Deployment Modes

Selecting the Ideal Deployment: SaaS vs Hybrid vs Private Cloud

SaaS

Recommended for organizations that have primarily cloud-native workloads and prefer a zero-management deployment experience.

  • Ideal for cloud-centric architectures Best suited for teams running workloads in AWS, Azure, or GCP — especially if you're using services like S3, Event Hub, or Pub/Sub as part of your data pipeline.

  • Zero infrastructure management No need to provision, monitor, or maintain infrastructure or Observo components such as the Manager, Site, or Gateway — all core services are hosted and managed by Observo Cloud.

  • Faster time to value Since everything is pre-hosted and centrally managed, onboarding is quick — typically just a matter of configuring your data sources and connecting to Observo endpoints.

  • Scales automatically with your needs The SaaS deployment can elastically scale with your ingestion volume and query demands without needing intervention.

  • Built-in high availability and security Observo Cloud maintains high uptime guarantees and enforces strict access controls, encryption, and operational best practices by default.

  • Lower total cost of ownership (TCO) No need to hire or dedicate resources for platform upkeep, upgrades, or troubleshooting — reducing both direct and indirect operational costs.

  • Best for teams focused on outcomes, not infrastructure If your priority is analyzing observability data, detecting anomalies, and responding to incidents — rather than managing the observability platform itself — SaaS is the most efficient option.

Hybrid SaaS

Suitable for organizations with a mix of cloud and on-prem workloads that require flexibility and partial control over infrastructure.

  • Ideal for hybrid infrastructure setups Best suited for organizations operating across public clouds and private datacenters, where certain workloads require local processing while still benefiting from centralized cloud management.

  • No need to host the Manager Observo Cloud manages the control plane (Manager), eliminating the overhead of hosting, upgrading, or maintaining it in your environment.

  • Lightweight Site deployments Deploy lightweight Site components within each environment (cloud VPC or private datacenter) to forward data to Observo Cloud.

  • Centralized configuration and visibility All configurations, patterns, and observability logic are managed centrally via Observo Cloud, while Sites maintain a persistent connection to stream data.

  • Cost-efficient and scalable Reduces the need for maintaining full infrastructure locally, while retaining scalability through the centralized SaaS backbone.

  • Minimal access requirements Requires your VPC or datacenter to allow outbound HTTPS (ports 80 and 443) to reach Observo Cloud endpoints.

  • Great for distributed teams and infrastructure Perfect for organizations with multiple teams, environments, or datacenters, seeking to unify observability without heavy lift on infrastructure management.

Private Cloud

Recommended for highly secure, air-gapped, or regulatory-sensitive environments that need complete control over the observability stack.

  • Ideal for isolated or compliance-heavy environments Best fit for private or governmental clouds, classified environments, or industries with strict data residency and security requirements.

  • Full control over the Manager and its lifecycle You host and operate the Observo Manager and all supporting services, ensuring full control over upgrades, configuration, and availability.

  • Supports offline or air-gapped operation Suitable for environments that do not allow any external connectivity — neither outbound to Observo Cloud nor inbound from the internet.

  • Customizable deployment Customize how data is collected, processed, and stored; integrate with internal IAM, monitoring, or ticketing systems.

  • Internal-only data and control plane All observability data, configuration, and metadata remain within your private network — nothing leaves your environment.

  • Strong fit for security-first organizations Enables organizations to enforce internal security controls, custom audit logging, and compliance policies without relying on a third-party cloud platform.

  • Suited for organizations with existing platform engineering Ideal if your team has the capability to operate and maintain complex distributed systems and prefers self-hosting for strategic or compliance reasons.
